Authentic craft, not machine press

Dhokra is made by sculpting a detailed wax model, wrapping it with layers of clay, and firing it so the wax melts out (the cire perdue process). Molten metal is poured into the cavity left behind. When the mould is broken, no two pieces can be identical—minute differences in granulation and linework are the artisan’s signature.

Design language & symbolism

The teardrop—also read as a paisley seed—symbolises germination and abundance across the subcontinent. A pushpa (flower) anchors the core, surrounded by rope borders for protection and continuity. Tiny bead granules punctuate the upper field like seeds ready to sprout.
