The Turko-Persian Lineage & Royal Patronage
Introduced to Rajasthan under the patronage of Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II in the 19th century, Jaipur artisans adapted Persian cobalt oxide glazes with indigenous floral arabesques, bird motifs, and Mughal geometric borders.
The Meticulous Handcraft Process
- Molding & Shaping: The quartz dough is pressed into open plaster molds and hand-trimmed with knives.
- Freehand Botanical Painting: Master artists paint intricate designs using squirrel-hair brushes with copper and cobalt oxide pigments.
- Glass Glaze & Single Kiln Firing: The pieces are coated in a bespoke borax glaze and fired once at 800°C–900°C for three full days.
Every hand-painted vase, coaster, drawer knob, and decorative wall plate radiates a luminous turquoise brilliance that never fades with age.
