The 'Aadi Mahotsav' is a massive National Tribal Festival that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated earlier today at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.
This year's festival began on February 16th and will conclude on February 27th.
However, you may be wondering what the 'Aadi Mahotsav' is.
The Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation (TRIFED) organises the Aadi Mahotsav, a tribal festival to honour the spirit of tribal traditional art, culture, crafts, gastronomy, and trade. The festival will feature nearly 200 stalls showcasing the rich and diverse heritage of tribes from all over India.
Almost 1000 tribal artisans will participate in the Mahotsav. Along with the usual attractions such as handicrafts, handloom, ceramics, jewellery, and so on, the Mahotsav will place a special emphasis on displaying Shree Anna grown by tribal people in recognition of 2023 being designated as the International Year of Millets.
During his inauguration, PM Modi also led the charge in implementing policies for the welfare of the nation's tribal population, while also acknowledging their contribution to the nation's expansion and development.
